No, I don't think it's possible, unless you purchase a phone that has speech right out of the box. Those particular phones do talk, but since they aren't specifically designed for blind people, their speech output is limited, and you aren't able to use all the features of the phone.

Correct. Bear in mind that IFone 3gS has inbuilt speech.

Yeah the iPhone 3GS has built in speech that will give you access to the whole phone and alot of apps, but this means getting used to a touch screen. The Google Android phones like the G1 G2 and or magic, and Hero, (all made by htc) have built in speech as well that as the software get s updated will give access to all the phones features as well. I i believe the G1 is the only one with a slide out keyboard though.

actually while the google phones are being released on T mobile, they are gsm phones and can be purchased unlocked and used on the ATT network. Also from what i heard Other handset makers besides htc are supposed to be making google android phones and for other carriers as well.

Hmmm! I'd just spend $200 or more on a fully functioning screenreader for example, Talks. I have no money to spend on those luxuries normally, but as I need a phone, I also need access to all of the apps on it if possible, so I'll get it and pay £150/$200 plus for the screenreader if I needed it to work my chosen phone, not to mention, getting it debranded since most phones are linked to set networks these days and not always unlocked to all networks so there's also the cost of sending the phone away for debranding, but the expense is all well worth it in the end, even though it you pay through the nose every step of the way, lol. Alternatively, get a secondhand phone with the screenreader already on it. You'd only have to pay a third of the price which a full new screenreader license costs you, to upgrade the screenreader someone else has already installed on the phone if it was really necessary to do so. Cracking them won't work either, as each installation is based on the Emei or Sim serial numbers on your handset, so unlike the desktop, no screenreader on any decent phones, Nokias for example, is free.

I don't know off hand as i haven't used one myself but i can try to find out how much of the google phones are currently accessable. What is debranded a phone/?

Debranding is when you can either, flash or update the firmware on the phone and then reinstall an unbranded version of the latest firmware for your chosen phone, meaning that it won't have all these indelible applications and firmware relating to a network other than yours, plastered all over it. With a lot of the newer N series phones, you can't do it from home and Carphone Warehouse can't do it either. You have to find some care point or other mobile phone service who'll insert a complete new chip and sort that out for you. However, this will invalidate your warrantee and any ensurance you purchased when you bought the phone. These services will also unlock the phone amongst many other things for you for between $60 and $120.

yeah to me its not worth it to unlock a carrier branded phone i will just purchase one unlock. but that maybe because here in the states there are so few nokia's that you can get from a carrier lol
